About the Artist

Jack Davis Otte is based in Westerville, Ohio. As a student artist, Jack has developed a skill and passion for creating work out of line and shapes. His works have attempted to push complexity and detail out of basic forms. His experiments with color, repetition, and pattern also try to maximize expressiveness. Jack primarily works in digital art and drawings on paper. Despite this, Jack also openly experiments with random three-dimensional materials to tell stories appealing to the human condition.
Jack has consistently sought art to tell his own life story. He often looks to his childhood in New Albany, Ohio, as inspiration for his subject matter. Jack also refers to prominent cartoons and commercial art of the 21st century to develop an artistic style for his works. Transitioning into college, he used his work to explore mental health and self-loathing of the inner conscious. Aside from himself, Jack uses his work to tell stories that resonate on a universal scale. His works often incorporate family, love, belonging, and self-esteem.
Jack is a junior at Otterbein University, earning a BA degree in Art with a concentration in Graphic Design and a minor in Journalism and Media Communications. He has received a Talent Award Scholarship from Otterbein’s Art & Art History department. Before Otterbein, Jack spent two years at Delaware Area Career Center’s Digital Design college tech prep program. In 2021, Jack finished third in regional Graphic Design Promotional competitions for Business Professionals of America’s 2021-22 National Leadership Conference.
